Susana Muhamad asume la presidencia de la COP16 con un llamado a la “Paz con la Naturaleza”
La ministra de Ambiente de Colombia, Susana Muhamad, hizo historia al asumir la presidencia de la COP16, con un discurso enfocado en la cooperación global por la biodiversidad.
En un hecho histórico, Susana Muhamad, ministra de Ambiente de Colombia, asumió la presidencia de la COP16. Durante la ceremonia, sucedió al ministro de China, Huang Runqiu, y presentó su plan de acción, enfocado en cumplir con el Marco Global Kunming-Montreal para la biodiversidad. Muhamad destacó la necesidad de una “coalición de Paz con la Naturaleza”, invitando a los países a trabajar juntos en la protección de los recursos genéticos y la biodiversidad, bajo un enfoque de transparencia y consenso.
Compromiso global por la biodiversidad
En su discurso inaugural, Muhamad subrayó la importancia de reconocer a las comunidades indígenas como líderes en la protección de la biodiversidad. Propuso un enfoque que no solo priorice la conservación, sino también la distribución equitativa de los beneficios derivados de los recursos genéticos. La presidenta de la COP16 insistió en que para lograr avances significativos, se requieren nuevos fondos y mecanismos de financiamiento que aseguren la ejecución de los compromisos adquiridos.
Muhamad hizo énfasis en la urgencia de contar con un sistema financiero que apoye las iniciativas medioambientales y, a la vez, destacó la importancia de rendir cuentas ante la comunidad internacional para garantizar resultados colectivos.
