Cámara y Senado cancelan agenda legislativa tras muerte de Miguel Uribe
El presidente de la Cámara, Julián López, confirmó que esta semana no habrá sesiones plenarias en el Congreso.
El Congreso de la República suspendió la agenda legislativa de esta semana para rendir homenaje póstumo al senador Miguel Uribe Turbay, fallecido el pasado 11 de agosto tras un atentado sicarial en Bogotá.
El presidente de la Cámara de Representantes, Julián López, anunció este lunes la suspensión de las sesiones plenarias tanto en la Cámara como en el Senado, en señal de respeto por el fallecimiento del senador del Centro Democrático, Miguel Uribe Turbay.
López indicó que, aunque las plenarias quedarán canceladas, las comisiones económicas continuarán con la discusión del Presupuesto General de la Nación para 2026, ya que se trata de un trámite con plazos legales que deben cumplirse. “Estos son temas legales y de tiempos que tienen que cumplir”, precisó.
El legislador confirmó que el miércoles en la mañana se llevará a cabo un homenaje solemne a Uribe Turbay en la Catedral Primada de Bogotá, como parte de sus honras fúnebres.
En declaraciones a medios, López pidió al país un momento de reflexión: “No es justo que nos sigamos matando por ideas políticas. Es hora de que mi generación dé un paso adelante y ponga fin a la violencia y la polarización”.
También hizo un llamado a las fuerzas políticas y a la ciudadanía para “desescalar la violencia verbal y concentrarnos en las ideas”, resaltando que el legado de Miguel Uribe fue el trabajo constante por mejorar la vida de los colombianos más vulnerables.
A través de su cuenta en X, el presidente de la Cámara expresó: “Su compromiso con la democracia y su entrega al servicio público dejan una huella que nos marca como país. Envío un abrazo a su esposa, hijos y familiares en este momento tan doloroso. Paz en su tumba”.
