JEP imputará tortura y persecución en el caso de falsos positivos de La Popa
La Jurisdicción Especial para la Paz (JEP) amplía la imputación contra militares del batallón La Popa, señalándolos por tortura y persecución en 135 ejecuciones extrajudiciales ocurridas en la Costa Caribe. Estas nuevas imputaciones incluyen ataques dirigidos a comunidades indígenas.
Nueva imputación en el caso de La Popa
La JEP imputará a varios exmilitares del batallón La Popa por su presunta responsabilidad en casos de tortura y persecución, sumando estos delitos a las acusaciones de ejecuciones extrajudiciales. La Sección de Reconocimiento de Verdad ha concluido que estos crímenes, dirigidos a pueblos indígenas como los kankuamo y wiwa, involucraron actos de control social y discriminación. Los asesinatos ocurrieron en Magdalena, Atlántico, Cesar y La Guajira y fueron parte de un patrón criminal con participación paramilitar.
La JEP señaló que, además de los asesinatos y desapariciones, hubo medidas restrictivas contra las víctimas, incluyendo limitaciones de tránsito y acceso a recursos básicos, lo cual agravó el daño a estas comunidades. Ahora, los militares investigados deberán decidir si aceptan o no los nuevos cargos, enfrentando un juicio en caso de rechazar los cargos.
